HISTORY OF THIS COCKTAIL
The Espresso Martini has a relatively short history with the drink believed to have been first created in the early 1980’s by a
London bartender.
According to him, a famous model entered the Soho Brasserie where he was working, and asked him to create a drink that would “wake me up”.
It was actually originally called the “Vodka Espresso” and was changed soon after to profit from a more desirable name and to join the Martini revolution.
Although not a true Martini, and these days served in a coupe rather than a V-shape Martini glass, the Espresso Martini is perhaps the best known of the contemporary classic cocktails to emerge from the 1990’s.
